  16. I have a problem using Kermit 3.11, Patch level 0 via DOS while
  17. connected to my Unix Internet server.

  19. I have a 486 PC running MS- Dos 6.22 with an Award BIOS, and a US
  20. Robotics. Sportster 14.4kb modem.

  22. After I log on to my Unix machine, after a while -- sometimes a few
  23. seconds, sometimes many minutes -- my keyboard locks up.  That is, no
  24. key I strike appears to be transmitted to the remote server.  The only
  25. effective keyboard action I have been able to take is to "Alt-X" back
  26. to Kermit's command level and "hangup/log off".  This is different
  27. from the server being heavily loaded and taking a long time to
  28. acknowledge key strokes -- I have tried waiting up to 10 minutes to no
  29. avail.

  31. As an experiment, I tried moving my PC to my daughter's home to log on
  32. to my internet provider via her telephone line.  Logging on using her
  33. phone line and my computer, my keyboard still locks up.  Yet when she
  34. uses this line, with her computer, to access a different Internet
  35. provider, her keyboard never locks up.  She runs the same version of
  36. Kermit that I do, but her modem runs at 2400 baud.

  38. Another experiment: Back at my house, instead of Kermit, I used the
  39. "terminal" program that comes with Windows 3.1.  Using "terminal", my
  40. keyboard has NOT locked up even after about 2 hours.

  42. I have used Kermit 3.11 for several years and ONLY IN THE LAST FEW
  43. MONTHS has the keyboard locked up.

  45. My problem is, I LIKE KERMIT and would like to solve this problem and
  46. return to using Kermit via Dos.
